Julie brings a unique combination of business and educational background plus technical expertise. She is skilled in using both qualitative and quantitative data for program analysis and improvement. Julie has experience in curriculum and program development which was used in an initiative to increase collaborative efforts between the University of Wisconsin Extension Nutrition Education Program and the Wisconsin Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Garden education, nutrition information and safe food handling procedures were incorporated to provide access to fresh produce to Food Share eligible audience across the state. The ultimate goal of a healthier lifestyle for this vulnerable segment of the population through increase fruit and vegetable consumption. Her strength is in building collaborations with community partners, multiple service agencies and government programs.

She has also worked on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s 21st Century Community Learning Center Program as a site coordinator for a Janesville middle school. This program goal is to increase comprehension in reading and math along with health and wellness education. Integration of new technologies and experiential learning were keys to this program’s success.

Her work history includes regulatory compliance for a food company that manufactured flavors and colors for ice cream products. A member of the International Dairy Food Association; she worked on formulations, labeling and certification.

Certified as a Green Industry Specialist from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers/Purdue University and Master Gardener and Master Food Preserver-University of Wisconsin-Extension
